If you think of the model that John Perkins laid out in Confessions of an Economic Hitman, the Empire, at the peak of its power, the military, the corporations, control over the media, control over the petrodollar, the global financial system, trade regulations, vetos at the UN, etc, etc. So it was invincible, and could use the CIA and other dirty tricks agencies to pull off whatever nasty jobs it wanted.
But now, everything has changed. And they can’t keep up. Once things begin to slide, to unravel, doesn’t matter what plans and plots the elites make, or what false flags, they’ve lost the initiative, everything is crumbling and falling apart faster than they can react.
As in that report, the story those idiots are trying to spin, is the anti Iran crap that they’ve been told is their task for the last few years, by the agencies that pay them, so they just keep on spewing it out, on auto pilot, no brains or thought involved.
But they did this before, for Al Qaeda, and look what a mess they got into.
It’s just like what happened at the end of the USSR, when it was on its last legs, just prior to the collapse of the Berlin Wall. The official newspapers were trying to pretend that there were no problems anywhere, that the shops were full of food, etc, when the citizens could see the empty shelves for themselves.
And it took three days, of official denials, before they would admit that there might have been a problem at Chernobyl.
The whole state machinery had become moribund, nobody dared to say anything, unless it was officially approved from above, and they had to wait for their superiors to decide what the official policy was. The superiors had no idea what to do, they were hesitant and conflicted and in a panic.
That’s what we see. In Washington. There is no coherent, rational, considered strategy. There’s different pressures vying and competing, and an ineffective and useless structure at the top.
CNN and the rest of the propaganda machinery puke out the same old lies and rubbish that they always did, not matter how ridiculous. What else can they do ? The economic situation is in meltdown, everybody is scared to death that there will be a catastrophic cascading collapse. Then what ?January 16, 2016 at 4:45 pm #24312
When we saw the “engineered flags” of the police being “unable” to stop a lot of woman-groping ruffians– first in Sweden where the media was forbidden to report escalating rape. Then in Germany where the media trumpeted boorish, dangerous behavior on New Year’s Eve. The slightest research indicates that the migrants are economic migrants and in their grand numbers NOT from Syria. But we knew it was the windup for another blow against Syria, didn’t we? And here it comes:
“This week, Pentagon officials announced their new plan to train up to 7,000 more ‘moderate’ fighters, but this time the project would take place inside Syria (and to hell with international law).
“We’re told that this was requested by Ankara, and with all NATO allies singing the same hymn – claiming that this new effort will help in securing Turkey’s porous border with Syria, or so the story goes. Washington’s political cover for this is fashioned from the popular post-Paris theme: to protect civilized Europe from invading hordes and the terrorists who hide among them, as stated in the Wall Street Journal”January 16, 2016 at 5:08 pm #24313
They never stop do they.
But the British Gvt spent decades fighting the Irish Republican Army, numerous British soldiers were killed and crippled, numerous innocent civilians likewise. The British politicians loved to make ferocious indignant speeches attacking the terrorists.
But what was REALLY going on ? It was all deceit and lies. When the senior British police officer, John Stevens, investigated, towards the end of it all, he found, out of two or three hundred so called ‘terrorists’ there were only about six who were not working for the British secret services, MI5, or 6 or Military Intelligence. They were, and had been, committing atrocities to give themselves cover and credibility, with the ‘other terrorists’ who were actually also secretly working for the British. Even the IRA command was infiltrated, by the guy called Stakeknife.
So then you have to ask what was really going on.
It was all a ploy, to keep British power and influence in Ireland, an excuse, otherwise public opinion would have forced the British to withdraw altogether, and there would have been a united republic of Ireland.
But the Irish Republic did not want THAT. I mean, why would they want those insane Northern Irish idiots ? They were happy to go along with the farce, pretending to THEIR public that they backed the IRA, sort of, whilst secretly being glad if they lost, and the Brits won.
So all those poor innocent people die, because of such insanity. And the same in Ukraine, Afghanistan, Syria, Libya, all around the world, the liars play these horrible games, always the same people, the same dirty tricks.January 16, 2016 at 5:35 pm #24314
To keep the population of Ukraine in a state of constant stress, the regions with predominantly Russian population is being terrorized by NATO troops, pro-Kiev junta nationalists militants formations, mercenaries from around the world and Jihadists and Daesh terrorists. See, The Head of the GRU accuses US and allies of creating the transnational “Islamist” terrorist network
The rumors that Ukraine had become a hub for the illegal gun trafficking to the countries and organization affiliated with Islamic terrorist groups, like ISIS were circulating for a couple of years, along with the rumors of a steady traffic of jihadi terrorists via Ukraine to Europe under the cover of migrants from Ukraine. They are mainly concentrating in Poland and Germany, right now.January 16, 2016 at 10:45 pm #24315
Around a dozen British men have already been arrested and charged with offences alleged to be connected to the Russian tapes. A second Russian child porn ring, which allegedly had a British distributor, was broken up earlier this year. The investigation into the importing of violent Russian child porn which led to the identification and subsequent imprisonment of Kuznetsov started about 15 months ago after Customs seized material coming into the country. Since then there have been dozens of other finds.January 16, 2016 at 10:46 pm #24316

The US move came as senior British government officials told The Telegraph of growing fears that “a new cold war” was now unfolding in Europe, with Russian meddling taking on a breadth, range and depth far greater than previously thought.
“It really is a new Cold War out there,” the source said, “Right across the EU we are seeing alarming evidence of Russian efforts to unpick the fabric of European unity on a whole range of vital strategic issues.”
Hahahaha. Clapper, they picked the right guy for the job, for sure.
‘the source said’. I guess that ‘source’ is the ‘someone in a cellar in London’ Pat Lang mentions sometimes 🙂
What a joke.January 17, 2016 at 3:53 pm #24322
It’s getting more and more clear what ‘Europe’ was intended to be. Lately the European Commission summoned European countries in their whole to comply to the European directives regarding the welcoming of ‘refugees’, hence you end up wondering if having all sovereign nations of Europe at once obey a central authority couldn’t be the main purpose of that so-called ‘refugee crisis’.
Since then, Poland just had a silent revolution by recovering her media independence, which let us know for good that our supposedly ‘national’ TV, press and radio in fact all belong to an international network where information gets predigested and standardized to meet the expectations of some occult authority imposing a hidden agenda at world scale under the cover of such bogus concepts as ‘democracy’, ‘freedom of press’ or ‘diversity’.January 18, 2016 at 2:31 pm #24328January 18, 2016 at 6:12 pm #24329
That is, we’re speaking of ethnic cleansing by Turkey in Syria. That is what Erdogan’s safe zone was about – create a Turkish zone of influence in northern Syria. Erdogan’s of neo-ottoman, pan-turkish pan-islamism in practice.
So Erdogan’s pretence to be ‘fighting ISIS’ is really a ploy to expand Ottoman influence into Syria by importing Uighurs. Who are being used… and will probably end up having a nasty fate.January 18, 2016 at 6:32 pm #24330
The Mirror can for the first time reveal that Fleet Street editors of the day were approached directly by senior government officials and told to drop the story.
The four men caught, charged and convicted of the raid went to jail without ever having their names mentioned in the press, and to this day their identities and the circumstances of their capture remain secret. Even the lengths of their sentences are still shrouded in mystery.
Now, one of the men, in his 70s, has spoken to the Mirror from his home in Europe. The ex-gang member said he was terrified to discover one box belonged to the-then head of the judiciary.
He said: “It was owned by Quintin Hogg, the Lord Chancellor.
But maybe more to it….
But the latest claims, revealed to the Daily Mirror, are more disturbing and further evidence of the Establishment cover-up of powerful paedophiles.
We are not naming the politician, who has since died and was never publicly linked to allegations of child sexual abuse.January 19, 2016 at 1:19 am #24334January 19, 2016 at 6:33 am #24335

‘Cameron stands by Saudi regime, defends Yemen bombing campaign’
Published time: 18 Jan, 2016 13:58
‘David Cameron has voiced support for the controversial Saudi-led air-strike campaign in Yemen and dismissed concerns that Riyadh is funneling funds to Islamic State.
Speaking to BBC Radio 4’s Today program on Monday, the Prime Minister defended UK’s arms exports to the oil-rich autocracy and said that the UK carefully monitors how the Saudis use British-made weapons.
“Our relationship with Saudi Arabia is important for our own security. They are opponents of Daesh [Islamic State] and this extremist terrorism,” he said.

William’s buddy Ken ‘Meyercord’ (the surname an obvious pseudonym based on legendary CIA division chief Cord Meyer, inventor of Operation Mockingbird) has been studying Holocaust Denial, primarily from CODOH, and has come up with a positive report: yes, the gas chambers never existed. (I have read it, but you have to email him to ask for a copy, which you can then print off and circulate, if you feel gutsy). And William Blum is approving this message. Yay, attaboy, William, but just you wait, the shit will come your way. They will eat you in living effigy right before your eyes, joint by joint, well roasted and seasoned, for months repetitively in their horrible zionazi magazines. It’s the final major item in his Jan 8 ‘Anti-Empire Report’ (not included in the Counterpunch excerpt therefrom).January 19, 2016 at 3:48 pm #24337
Some time in 2014, Nick went to the UK police and told them that he had been abused and tortured by a powerful cabal of gay paedophiles.

it should be obvious to everyone not paid not to see it, that capitalism systematically brings the nastiest people to the top, thieves, gangsters, mass murderers, like all our heads of state, necessarily: what else can they be?

“Far from trickling down, income and wealth are instead being sucked upwards at an alarming rate. Once there, an ever more elaborate system of tax havens and an industry of wealth managers ensures that it stays there, far from the reach of ordinary citizens and their governments. One recent estimate is that $7.6 trillion of individual wealth — more than the combined gross domestic product (GDP) of the U.K. and Germany — is currently held offshoreJanuary 19, 2016 at 6:18 pm #24340
Time to wake up Wales. Your governors are slaves to the banks. HSBC is a criminal bank. In this country if you protest – you get arrested. This is clearly a malicious prosecution. When are the authorities going to grow a moral backbone and stop pandering to greedy banks and get on with prosecuting them. It’s relatively impossible to get some form of justice – police haven’t got a clue. CPS haven’t a clue. Its a mockery of the justice system. Banking is necessary – banks and bankers are not. Keep on protesting guys. If you need to start a malicious prosecution claim against the police – call Charlie Fox 😉January 20, 2016 at 6:18 am #24341

A PICTURE OF WHAT CELL PHONES DO TO YOUR BLOOD
Blood was examined after people had used or even just carried a cell phone. Read about the conditions under which the following happened: Normal blood cells on a slide are like pennies spread in a single, flat layer. After the cell phone experiment, the cells had become so sticky that they arranged themselves like pennies in a coin wrapper.
Cell phones have so greatly increased brain and other cancers that the manufacturers can no longer buy liability insurance. US govt says the microwave technology used in cell phones isn’t harmful unless it causes tissue heating.
“Besides heating, there are other types of biological effects from the extremely low-level microwaves associated with cell phones, called “nonthermal” effects. The Russians have conducted many studies on the nonthermal effects, which they consider more significant than thermal effects, and as a result, they adopted a more stringent guideline that is sixty to one hundred times lower than U.S. guidelines.
“Studies on the nonthermal biological effects of microwaves have taken place mostly outside of the U.S., on animals, cell cultures, and humans, for the past several decades. This research has found effects at every level of organization of life, from the behavior and performance of humans and animals down to the molecular and genetic levels. Studies show effects on the brain, stem cells, reproductive organs, enzyme activities, and sperm quantity and quality in animals and humans. More specifically, changes in calcium transport from cells, altered enzyme activities, increased cell proliferation of human epithelial cells, increase in breaks in DNA in animal cells, changes in brain blood flow in healthy people, leakage of proteins through the blood brain barrier, and decreased sperm count and motility are some changes that have been documented.. . . Lower intensity microwaves sometimes produce larger biological effects than higher intensities, known as the biological “window” effect.”
Read this one, to find out what you can do to lessen the risk.

Oh dear, I’ve been thinking for about a week that it looks like the Obama faction is being eclipsed by the Pentagon/neocon/Zionist faction. Now it looks more like it than ever. And they have at least 60 ships sitting out there in the Persian Gulf.
They’ve just changed the rather reasonable Gen Austin who was heading up Centcom to this guy:
“General Votel was Chief of Joint Special Operations Command , Fort Bragg. He was then in charge of President Obama’s targeted assassinations worldwide.
“He becomes head of CentCom as the Pentagon has just defined a new strategy regarding Daesh and has sent 3000 more men in Afghanistan and 200 commandos in Iraq. It must retake Rakka (Syria) during the first half of 2016, without our knowing whether or not the city will be returned to the Syrian Arab Republic.”
And look at this incredibly scarey article at Saker by Scott:
It’s too long to post. Take a look; absolutely incredible; apparently that crazy story about the two US navy boats having gotten “lost” was a foiled attempt to create “Tonkin Gulf” incident to attack Iran!

Canada has been excluded from a meeting of defense ministers in Paris this week to discuss the imaginary fight against ISIS. The apparent snub follows new Canadian PM Trudeau’s vow that he would remove the country’s six fighter jets from the anti-ISIS coalition, and at a time that Pindostan is looking for its allies to step up their contributions (it is always such a time, but journos like their readers have no memories – RB). Ashtray Carter didn’t mention Canada last week when he said he would meet defense ministers from nations who are playing a “significant role” in the coalition. Canadian Defense Minister Harjit Sajjan tried to suggest it wasn’t a big deal on Tuesday, saying this isn’t the only meeting. Ministers from the Netherlands, France, Australia, Germany, Italy and Britain will take part in the talks on Wednesday. Carter wasn’t asked about Canada by reporters on the flight to Paris, but he was asked about the lack of any Arab representation at the meeting. In response, Ashtray said something completely nonsensical, as they often do:
This is a gathering of countries that have been the most active in Iraq and Syria. Other nations have made contributions, and will continue to do so. But this meeting was not designed to exclude anyone, it’s to get more ideas for how we can do more.
Trudeau long ago said Canada would pull its jets and made it a part of his election campaign. After he won the Nov 19 election, he said allies understand that Canada will step up military training for forces fighting ISIS. Canada has had 69 SOF in a ‘training’ (my sneer quotes – RB) role in northern Iraq with the Kurds. The Canadian mission includes six CF-18 fighter jets, a refuelling tanker aircraft, two surveillance planes and one airlift aircraft, with about 600 aircrew, mechanics, etc based in Kuwait. The Canadian jets continue to participate in air strikes, and it is unclear when Canada will remove them. Australia has six jet fighters and has soldiers in ‘non-combat roles’ (my sneer quotes – RB) in Baghdad. It has declined a Pindo request to do more. The Netherlands has four fighter jets in the mission. Germany is not involved in air strikes (at all). Conservatives in Toronto bars could be heard this evening loudly complaining:
Last July, we were the hosts! We spent a fortune, and we laid on a really lovely do! And now, thanks to this left-wing populist nonsense about ‘war crimes’, we are being forced to miss out on all their corresponding free drinks and canapés, three-course meals if you don’t mind listening to pindo jews droning on afterwards, and so on. It’s completely unfair!January 21, 2016 at 9:39 am #24406January 21, 2016 at 6:06 pm #24411

With absolutely no background in military and strategic matters, the song that is being sung is simple: the Russians will inevitably get stuck in a quagmire and the only way out will be to cooperate with the White House and State Department, on the US administration’s terms of course.
This is the world we are living in: everybody is entitled to an opinion, however wrong and misguided it may be. The good thing on the other hand is that sooner or later reality will come back and bite you in the ass, when you are living in lalaland.January 21, 2016 at 6:33 pm #24413
When Clapper was director of DIA he brought a USAF tactical intelligence officer’s viewpoint to the job and virtually destroyed DIA’s highly developed analytic force by ignoring his statutory responsibility to participate in national level strategic analysis in favor of counting airplanes, tanks, anti-aircraft guns and the like. Seasoned, highly skilled analysts left in droves rather than be made into clerks. Clapper survived that disaster.January 22, 2016 at 4:36 am #24418
Southfront thinks Turkey prepares an invasion at Jarabalus; they are minesweeping there. Does this mean that Turkey’s downing of Russia’s SU-24 achieved its purpose of keeping the border open? I don’t understand military matters, but surely the border closing should have received more priority, no?
US & Kurds building an airfield in Syria in Hasaka province in NE Syria. This was begun around Oct 15, must be close to completion. The airport, known as “Abu Hajar”, lies southeast of the town of Remelan, site of one of Syria’s largest oilfields, run by the Kurdish People’s Protection Units, which sells its production through Iraqi Kurdistan.
Here’s a map of the location
. I don’t see anything to indicate that Assad complained about it. US just began operating helicopters out of it yesterday the 20th of Jan.. This is a big deal, no?
The Turks are still inside Iraq in support of Barzani’s Iraqi Kurds, too.
Looks like a serious effort at partitioning Syria/Iraq to me.January 22, 2016 at 12:23 pm #24421
I don’t know, P. Something about it here
The US has been upgrading a former agricultural airfield at Rmeilan for months for their own use. This airfield is 30 to 40 miles east of the airfield at Qamishli. I wonder if this is a case of the Bear tweaking the Eagle or the two working together at a level we just cannot see.January 22, 2016 at 4:37 pm #24422
All jokes aside, Carter is in somewhat of a tough spot. America’s disastrous foreign policy blunders in Ukraine, Syria, and Iraq and Washington’s bungled attempts to deal with an ascendant China, a resurgent Russia, and an Iran which is marking a triumphant return to the world stage, have left the defense chief with a laundry list of problems.
At the top of that list is ISIS.
Thanks to the fact that the group is the most effective force when it comes to destabilizing the Assad regime (an explicit foreign policy goal of the US and its regional allies) and thanks to the fact that the Russian intervention means the day will never come when Islamic State takes Damascus thus green-lighting a US ground invasion to “liberate” Syria, Washington has been forced to choose between either eliminating the group or keeping them around in hopes the Russians simply get bogged down and decide to let Assad fend for himself again.
Meanwhile, the attacks on Paris have left the public with a lot of burning questions about why America “can’t take those bastards out,” to quote senior White House correspondent Jim Acosta.
It is Carter who is left to answer those questions and he must do so without acknowledging that ISIS is strategically valuable not only for Washington, but for Ankara, Riyadh, and Doha as well.
In November, the Obama administration said the US would officially send special forces to Syria. That announcement came after the public had been primed with planted helmet cam footage depicting a US raid on an ISIS prison in northern Iraq.
Since then, there have been various reports of the US ground presence in Syria and conflicting stories about whether or not Baghdad is prepared to allow American boots back on the ground in Iraq or whether Washington will need to go through Erbil to get clearance.
On Friday, Carter laid the PR groundwork for an expanded US troop presence in Syria when, in an interview with CNBC, the defense chief said The Pentagon wants to retake Mosul and Raqqa and part of the “strategy” that will involve “boots on the ground.”
