Canada – bless its maple-leaf heart – has given Ukraine C$400 million in cash since last September to help the Kiev government finance its civil war and debts. This week in Ottawa, with the signing of a free trade agreement between the two governments, the Canadians aim to claw back the cash by obliging Kiev to allow a surge of imports of Canadian cereals, meat, timber and other products. Until now Ukrainian producers of these goods have resisted, blocking the Canadian imports for fear they will damage the Ukrainian market and domestic earnings.
Canadian officials acknowledge that for Ukrainian steel, which is currently barred from entering the Canadian market at dumping prices, there will be no change, and the new agreement will make no difference.

According to German Bild, Police does not know yet how the grave robbers got into the tomb. It is also completely unclear why the skull has been stolen. This could be related to a ritual or cult as investigators found wax on the floor. It could also just be a tasteless prank. F.W. Murnau has been buried in a metal coffin. In the tomb are also his two brothers buried. All three coffins have been reportedly open. Let’s just hope there will not be a Youtube video about this violation of graves.July 18, 2015 at 5:49 am #22050
Yet to this day I cannot get any of the Israelis I know to admit we used terrorism to get our way, no different than Muslim terrorists. It was only late in life he realized the enormous depravity of his actions. He left Israel and spent the last few years of his life begging G-D for forgiveness.
In my mind, Israel and it’s people suffer from a collective mental illness. It originated in the pogroms Jews suffered over the centuries with the Shoah being the straw that broke a people. The Us versus the World permeates every aspect of Jewish Israeli life, religion and politics.July 18, 2015 at 6:03 am #22051
But as it turns out, the three-dimensional geometry of the cortical surface is highly predictive of individuals’ genetic ancestry – there are regional differences in the folding and gyrification, as well as volume and cortical area. I already knew that the Chinese had decided to develop their own brain anatomical atlas, due to average differences between European and Chinese brains, but this article takes it farther.
•Geometry of the human cortical surface contains rich ancestral information
•The most informative features are regional patterns of cortical folding and gyrification

After a two-year legal battle between the California city of Gardena and news outlets, a federal judge has ordered the release of police dashcam footage that shows local police officers shooting an unarmed man. In the video unsealed Tuesday, police order Ricardo Diaz-Zeferino and two other men to raise their hands in the air. The men comply. Diaz-Zeferino then lowers and raises his hands several times and removes his cap. His friends say he was trying to explain to the officers that they were on the streets looking for his brother’s stolen bicycle and were not bicycle thieves themselves as the cops incorrectly suspected. Three officers then open fire, killing him with eight bullets. They also wound one of the other men. The city of Gardena paid $4.7 million to settle a civil rights lawsuit with the victims’ families, but blocked release of the dashcam videos. In his ruling on Tuesday, Judge Stephen Wilson said there was a public interest in seeing the material. Gardena has since filed a notice of appeal with the Ninth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, which issued a stay suspending the release of the videos; however, the videos have gone viral and remain available online. For more, we go to Los Angeles, California, where we’re joined by Sonia Mercado, a civil rights attorney representing the family of Ricardo Diaz-Zeferino.July 19, 2015 at 2:04 am #22054

A well-known medium popular with the stars was killed and the tomb of another was desecrated Friday in the latest wave of violence targeting spiritualists in several days in Brazil, police said.
Police are investigating after the body of Gilberto Arruda, 73, was found with his hands bound and his face swollen at the “Lar de Frei Luiz” spiritual center in Jacarepagua, a district of western Rio.
Arruda practiced “spiritual surgery,” local media said, and claimed to be able to receive the spirit of a World War II German doctor.
Former Brazilian tennis champion Gustavo Kuerten reportedly had attended the center and undergone a “spiritual operation” of the spine in the past.
Separately, the tomb of popular medium Chico Xavier was desecrated in Uberaba, in Minas Gerais state, between Thursday and Friday.
The glass walls of the tomb — which receives thousands of visits annually from believers — were damaged in several places, police said.
Chico Xavier, who died aged 92 in 2002, was recommended by Brazil in 1981 for a Nobel Peace Prize, underlining how deeply respected he is in the country.
There has been a wave of similar incidents in recent days, especially in Rio de Janeiro.
Evangelicals have been blamed for the violence.
On Sunday, an 11-year-old girl who was a follower of Candomble, a religion based on African beliefs, was attacked with stones in front of her place of worship by evangelicals in Rio.
On Thursday a “spiritualist” center was pelted with stones by three men brandishing Bibles.
“When we see signs of religious intolerance in our city it is very worrying,” said the Archbishop of Rio, Orani Tempesta.
“I am sure that these attackers are a minority, they are not Christians.”July 19, 2015 at 3:00 pm #22109
Clark’s remarks reveal the mindset of the upper echelon of government. Those who disagree with the government are now to be rounded up and shut up indefinitely in political internment camps. Mass internment of official enemies on par with Nazi Germany and Stalin’s Soviet Union is now “on the table” and openly discussed as suspicious attacks and FBI orchestrated and grandstanded terror plots continue to grab headlines and build a reactionary consensus as the designed result of an incessant, decades-long propaganda campaign.July 20, 2015 at 8:12 am #22112

For years public figures have condemned cyber espionage committed against the United States by intruders launching their attacks out of China. These same officials then turn around and justify the United States’ far-reaching surveillance apparatus in terms of preventing terrorist attacks. Yet classified documents published by WikiLeaks reveal just how empty these talking points are. Specifically, top-secret intercepts prove that economic spying by the United States is pervasive, that not even allies are safe and that it’s wielded to benefit powerful corporate interests.July 23, 2015 at 3:57 pm #22120

The other definition of rewilding that interests me is the rewilding of our own lives. I believe the two processes are closely intertwined—if we have spaces on our doorsteps in which nature is allowed to do its own thing, in which it can be to some extent self willed, driven by its own dynamic processes, that, I feel, is a much more exciting and thrilling ecosystem to explore and discover, and it enables us to enrich our lives, to fill them with wonder and enchantment.July 24, 2015 at 4:49 pm #22127July 24, 2015 at 5:40 pm #22128
Israeli Military Admits to Supporting Syrian Jihadis

“The security of the UK and Wales should be the priority of the security services rather than meddling in the internal matters of Welsh elected representatives. This change in policy creates two tier elected members in the UK and is another example of a broken Britain.”
GCHQ has directed enquiries on the story to the Cabinet Office, which is not commenting on the story.
Assembly presiding officer Dame Rosemary Butler has also written to the PM raising concerns about the report.

If you feel you’ve had enough Department of Veteran’s Affairs (VA) related scandals for one lifetime, you’ve come to the wrong place. I’m sure all Liberty Blitzkrieg readers will recall the huge outcry last year when it was revealed that some of those unfortunate Americans who sacrificed themselves in wars for imperial dominance and overseas profits, were left hung out to dry by the VA. So much so, that some vets even died while waiting for healthcare within the VA system.
Not to worry though. Under the GI Bill, taxpayers are funding all sorts of “learning” at unaccredited schools, including masturbation classes at San Francisco’s Institute for Advanced Study of Human Sexuality, hate sermons at places such as the Oklahoma Baptist College and Institute, and all sorts of other scams run by convicted felons. I wish I was making this up.July 25, 2015 at 3:00 am #22135
Actually, where it would hurt manufacturers would be in the public’s revulsion to eating foods clearly labelled as being genetically modified, leading to a collapse in sales in this high margin food category, and forcing even higher non-GMO prices. Outcomes that would lead to a dramatic erosion in shareholder value for the owners of those companies who stood to lose the most should the Labeling act not pass in its current form.
Owners such as the Koch Brothers and Monsanto.
Last night’s passage of the anti-labeling law was the culmination of a very long and tedious process, one which started well over a year ago. In fact, as Andrea Germanos recalls, it all started last April, when in a move slammed as sealing “an unholy alliance between Monsanto and Koch Industries,” a Kansas congressman submitted legislation that would ban state-level GMO labeling laws.
Called the Safe and Accurate Food Labeling Act of 2014, the industry-supported legislation sponsored by Republican Rep. Mike Pompeo would “amend the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act with respect to food produced from, containing, or consisting of a bioengineered organism, the labeling of natural foods, and for other purposes.”
At least between its 2014 name and the final 2015 version Pompeo and his backers added “Safe” to the front just in case the irony was lost on someone.
Which brings us to the biggest winners from this law, and how Rep. Pompeo made a few very rich people even richer.

Social media sites such as Twitter and YouTube would be required to report “terrorist” videos and other content posted by users to federal authorities under legislation approved this past week by the Senate Intelligence Committee.
The measure, contained in the 2016 intelligence authorization, still has to be voted on by the full Senate. The measure applies to “electronic communication service providers,” which includes e-mail services such as Google and Yahoo. “Posted content” would likely also apply to readers’ comments, and in theory to authors’ postings such as this one.July 25, 2015 at 7:55 am #22138
Organizers of a trade union festival in Britain asked pro-Israel activists to leave and pack up their stand following harassment by supporters of the Plastelinan cause. Members of Bournemouth Action for Israel (BAFI) claimed that their kiosk was defaced and they were verbally abused by Plastelina Solidarity Campaign (PSC) supporters at the Tolpuddle Martyrs’ festival last weekend in Bournemouth, the Jewish Chronicle of London reported Tuesday. Owen Tudor, head of EU and international relations for the Trades Union Congress (TUC), confirmed that festival organizers asked the pro-Israel stallholders “not to return for a second day” after “careful consultation and with due consideration given to our duty of care.”July 25, 2015 at 3:59 pm #22140
Yes, the same thing from the head of the OSCE mission in Kosovo, William Walker, who in his words was “no CIA officer, but worked together with this control” and repeatedly “gave the press a false interpretation of the various events.”
Again in his own words, being the official representative of Pindostan in Nicaragua, under the guise of humanitarian assistance he delivered arms and ammunition to the anti-government forces of the country. The system worked and works like a Swiss watch.July 25, 2015 at 4:56 pm #22141

Pindo media outlets like CNN regularly quote such “sources” but are almost never held accountable for the accuracy or validity of these unknown leaks after the fact. In the end, media outlets like CNN are simply functioning as disinformation outlets in the immediate aftermath of these perennial ‘active shooter’ events. CNN then inserted additional vague information from “sources familiar with the family’s interviews with investigators,” claiming that the 24-year-old had been “abusing drugs for some time,” using “party drugs” and marijuana. Again, this could be more strategic leaking between CNN and the government. This could be viewed as part of a government-media effort to destroy the shooter’s character and influence public opinion in advance of an actual investigation. Certainly, if Abd’ul-Aziz was the “heavy drug user” being characterized by his ‘friend’ Petty and CNN, then this could easily be visible in the coroner’s toxicology report. Will it be released? Unfortunately not, as the case has now been classified, with all information being released on a “need-to-know basis,” controlled tightly by both the FBI and the DoJ. As expected, a number of politicians were quick to take advantage of the incident in order to bolster their national security street credentials. Chairman of the House Committee on Homeland Security, Rep Mike McCaul, wasted no time in claiming that the case is an “open terrorism investigation,” and believes, based on his experience (exactly what experience that is remains unclear), that Abd’ul-Aziz was definitely “inspired by ISIS.”
Adding to the ridiculous demonizing details, we’re told that Abd’ul-Aziz’ martial arts coach was dramatically distraught, claiming he was just an “All-Pindosi Kid”. This is interesting to note, as alleged Boston Bomber Tamerlan Tsarnaev was also a highly trained amateur fighter, a ‘golden gloves’ boxing champion, no less. Another high-profile FBI ‘terror sting’ involved 20-year-old Ohio resident Christopher Lee Cornell, who himself was a high school wrestling champ. Even Good Morning Pindostan chimed in on Abd’ul-Aziz as the “good Pindosi kid” appellation, adding to the evident media spin of the narrative, where the new threat is being crafted to give the impression both mass shooters and terrorists are quite literally lurking everywhere.
While foundation-funded ‘Islam experts’ continue to promote the illusion that we live a world devoid any government clandestine activity, billions of taxpayer dollars per year continue to go towards covert operations both at home and overseas utilizing thousands of agents, informants and patsies – and so long as this is the case, then we should expect to see ever more these so-called ‘terrorist’ events. Nothing about Chattanooga made sense, and as long as these events remain sealed under classified layers of federal bureaucracy, it’s unlikely we’ll ever know what really happened. But don’t fret, there’s always next week’s shooting.July 27, 2015 at 2:13 am #22144
The G.M.O. experiment, carried out in real time and with our entire food and ecological system as its laboratory, is perhaps the greatest case of human hubris ever. As to individual opposition to these, most of us could name Jews of high intelligence and courage who have done precisely this, but they are rather few and, so far at least, appear to have had marginal influence.
As regards Britain, a consequence of this, to be blunt, is that we are seeing a mild revival of anti-Semitism. The reasons for this it seems that most American Jews simply cannot understand.
Not long ago, Jeffrey Goldberg produced an article of ineffable stupidity in the ‘Atlantic’, entitled ‘Is Time for the Jews to Leave Europe?’
At the end, there was an explanation which made a great deal clear. His grandfather, Goldberg explains ‘grew up in a pogrom-afflicted village, not far from Kishinev’ – which was, of course, the scene of very famous pogroms, in 1903 ands 1905.
From the remainder of the article, it was clear that for Goldberg it is Kishinev which tells the eternal truth about the ‘goyim’ in Europe – including Britain. This is a man who, psychologically, is still in Kishinev, and has no plans to leave anytime soon. Increasingly, it is clear that this is the essential condition of most Israelis, and, it appears, rather a large number of American Jews.
Unfortunately, the ‘liberal Zionists’ have, over the past half-century, done very little to combat rather less ‘liberal’ Zionists’ like Goldberg. As far as Britain is concerned, the consequences of this were well spelt out in an open letter to the President of the Board of Deputies of British Jews, Vivian Wineman, by an interesting man called Robert Cohen, on his blog ‘Micah’s Paradigm Shift.’
Certainly Cohen is not typical of anything, in that on the one hand he is an orthodox Jew, rather than a secular one, while on the other he is married to an Anglican minister and lives in North Yorkshire – as he notes on the blog, one of the least Jewish counties in England. But by virtue of this situation he is probably in a better position than many to grasp the complexities of British feelings about these matters.
A critical matter that Cohen raises to Wineman – which is very much in the minds of many in Britain, including some of the most traditionally philo-Semitic – has to do with the continued professions by ‘liberal Zionists’ of their faith in the ‘two-state solution’.
An obvious problem is that the same ‘liberal Zionists’ have had almost half a century in which they could have done something to attempt to prevent successive Israeli governments pursuing colonisation policies that have made a ‘two-state solution’ impossible. Instead, they have done practically nothing.
(At least in this country they have been more reluctant than in yours to acquiesce in the smearing of those who have tried to save Israel from itself as ‘anti-Semites’.)
So Cohen writes to Wineman:
‘Your faith in the two-state solution would carry more conviction if you had once in the last 25 years urged the State of Israel to recognise international law, halt settlement construction and accept that Jerusalem should and could be shared. But you did not.’
And Cohen then goes on to explain one set of reasons why anti-Zionism is actually producing anti-Semitism among some groups which, historically have not been anti-Semitic at all. Having stressed that there is nothing inherently anti-Semitic in the notion of bringing pressure to bear on Israel through economic protest, he goes on to write:
‘But if BDS supporters find it difficult to make the distinction between Jews and the State of Israel it’s hardly surprising. Every Israeli Prime Minister enjoys speaking as if they were our international leader. Our communal organisations, like the Board, refuse to offer an ounce of criticism towards Israel and our synagogues offer weekly prayers for the State of Israel and its defence forces. Why wouldn’t BDS campaigners draw the conclusion that Judaism, Jews and Zionism are all one and the same?
‘Over the last 70 years we have merged our ancient faith with a very modern political nationalist project to the point where most Jews accept the State of Israel as a seamless continuum of all our beliefs and traditions. You have contributed greatly to this situation but have left yourself no room and no words to unscramble it.’

CHILE VS NORWAY
To be sure, not every salmon buyer is that worried about antibiotics. Chile exported $4.4 billion (£2.8 billion) worth of salmon in 2014, up 24 percent from the previous year, according to industry group SalmonChile.
For some buyers, costs are paramount. Brazil’s biggest retailer, GPA SA, which buys some 3.6 million kilograms of Chilean salmon per year, said demand for antibiotic-free fish in the South American giant is small, and the high cost of importing from Norway is a deterrent.
“The greatest demand in the Brazilian market is for fresh salmon, purchased, for now, from Chile mainly due to logistics,” GPA said in an email.
Chilean salmon producers said there is no reason for consumers to worry. Farmers do not administer antibiotics for months before harvesting the fish, so any traces of the drugs that remain in the salmon when it reaches consumers are within tolerance levels, they said.
“The final product consumers eat has no antibiotics,” said Ricardo Garcia, chief executive of salmon producer Camanchaca, which reported nearly $500 million in sales last year.
“This is only something given to sick fish so they don’t die. It’s not something preventive,” he said.
