– Leonid Petrovich, you think that the U.S. and American presidents are just tools. Who, then, creates the policies?
– There is a community of some virtually unknown to the society people who not only install American presidents, but determine the rules of the “Big game” for everyone. These are, in particular, transnational financial corporations. But not only them.
A reformatting of the world financial and economic system is taking place. There is an obvious attempt to rethink the entire structure of capitalism, without abandoning it. Foreign policy changes dramatically. The US suddenly dumped Israel – their main ally in the Middle East for the sake of improving relations with Iran. Why is Tehran now more needed and more important than Tel Aviv? Because it is in the zone of the encirclement of Russia. These shadow forces set the task of elilmination of our country as a serious player on the world stage. After all, Russia carries a civilizational alternative to the entire united West.
Moreover, the world is experiencing an explosive growth of anti-American sentiment. Hungary, where the conservative right-wing forces are in power, and the leftists in Greece – diametrically opposite forces – practically came together and revolted against the dictate of the United States on the Old continent. The revolt is boiling in Italy, Austria, France and so on. If Russia can hold on, then processes will surface in Europe, which are detrimental to the forces, aspiring for world domination. And they know it.
– Some European leaders are already crying that the US literally forced them to institute sanctions. Can Europe escape from the “friendly” American embrace?
– Never. America holds it tight on several chains: the Fed’s printing press, a threat of color revolutions and a physical elimination of unwanted politicians.
– Are you exaggerating about the physical elimination?
– Not at all. The US Central Intelligence Agency – is not even an intelligence service in terms of the level of its tasks. The KGB or SVR – are classic intelligence agencies: collecting information and reporting to the leadership of the country. At the CIA these traditional intelligence activities are at the end of the task list. The main ones – are elimination, including physical, of political figures and the organization of coups. And they do it in real time.April 9, 2015 at 8:28 am #20355
Throughout the conflict in eastern Ukraine, these sites have systematically regurgitated Russian propaganda, spreading lies, half-truths, and conspiracy theories, often directly translated from Russian sources. … The Czech weekly Respekt published a feature article about the mysterious “news” site Aeronet, also known as AENews. Started in 2001 by aviation fans, the domain has changed ownership several times. Since the summer of 2014 it has regularly published articles accusing the new Ukrainian government of fascism and claiming that UKUSA mercenaries were fighting in eastern Ukraine.
First, let’s look at the weakness of the claims in the article. The author accuses news outlets of doing exactly what he himself and the Pindosi mainstream media in general do when reporting about foreign policy issues such as Ukraine: they “systematically regurgitate [Pindosi] propaganda, spreading lies, half-truths, and conspiracy theories.” The advantage they have is that they don’t need to translate anything. Apparently for Rohac an article written in Russian has to be Russian propaganda. It’s that simple: Russians are just not producing any honest journalistic content. This argument about texts being “directly translated from Russian sources” is not only weak, it is xenophobic. In addition, the author’s examples to prove his points are unsound. Aeronet and many other websites have not only accused but also proved the fascistic nature of the Ukrainian government. Numerous independent media outlets have published countless articles to that effect, demonstrating that several key figures within the unelected government were neo-Nazis and that the Azov Battalion was filled with members linked to neo-Nazi groups. Michel Chossudovsky writes in an article enttitled Pindostan has Installed a Neo-Nazi Government in Ukraine:

So, now this new box of tricks is opened, any chemical agent can be delivered by this means. And there are a lot of very interesting possibilities on the menu.
Police in a northern Indian city said Tuesday they have a new weapon for controlling unruly protesters in the world’s largest democracy: pepper-spraying drones.
Yashasvi Yadav, police chief of Lucknow, said his officers have successfully test-flown the newly purchased drones with a view to better crowd control.
“The results were brilliant. We have managed to work out how to use it to precisely target the mob in winds and congested areas,” Yadav told AFP.
“Pepper is non-lethal but very effective in mob control. We can spray from different heights to have maximum results,” he said.

If this sounds creepily reminiscent of a sci-fi thriller, that’s because it kind of is:
Technology that predicts behavior, as in the 2002 science-fiction movie “Minority Report,” in which Tom Cruise plays a Precrime officer who hunts down murder suspects before they can act, raises ethical questions.
“What they’re trying to do is forecast human behavior,” said Mark Williams, a former Federal Reserve bank examiner who’s now a lecturer at Boston University’s Questrom School of Business. “Policing intentions can be a slippery slope. Do people get a scarlet letter for something they have yet to do?”
The answer, apparently, is “yes,” and if algos’ periodic “mistakes” in the market are any indication of what could happen should a program, through some miscalculation or short circuit, go rogue in the process of identifying human rogues, we suspect there’s the potential for rather unfortunate outcomes. For instance, if one cannot trust the machines to differentiate between a Tesla April fools joke and the real announcement of a new line of cars, we wonder how they’ll be able to distinguish between humor, sarcasm, etc. On a more general level, appointing the same technology that facilitates flash crashes when it’s supposed to be providing liquidity to the position of head HR enforcer might end up creating unintended consequences and, paradoxically, could actually lead to more lawsuits on balance if the technology is better at screwing up than it is at doing its job because it seems to us that an employee who is let go, has their pay docked, or is otherwise aggrieved by a machine that erroneously brands him/her a threat, is very likely to sue.
Of course when it comes to combating the types of behavior which lead governments to sue banks, there are options other than deploying Skynet — like fostering integrity and improving the corporate culture, both of which seem far more intuitive than subjecting the company’s entire base of human capital to surveillance by artificial intelligence:
In the end though, it’s not really clear what all the fuss is about because as Bloomberg reminds us, JPM really hasn’t been involved in too many questionable activities. About the only things that come to mind are “fraudulent mortgage-bond sales, the $6.2 billion London Whale trading loss, services provided to Ponzi-scheme operator Bernard Madoff and the rigging of currency and energy markets.”
And they employed ex PM Blair, the war criminal, in highly lucrative part time job, as an advisor.April 9, 2015 at 10:08 am #20358
Everything this nation once stood for is being turned on its head.
Free speech, religious expression, privacy, due process, bodily integrity, the sanctity of human life, the sovereignty of the family, individuality, the right to self-defense, protection against police abuses, representative government, private property, human rights – the very ideals that once made this nation great – have become casualties of a politically correct, misguided, materialistic, amoral, militaristic culture.
Indeed, I’m having a hard time reconciling the America I know and love with the America being depicted in the daily news headlines, where corruption, cronyism and abuse have taken precedence over the rights of the citizenry and the rule of law.
What kind of country do we live in where it’s acceptable for police to shoot unarmed citizens, for homeowners to be jailed for having overgrown lawnsApril 9, 2015 at 11:29 am #20359
A pop group was suspected of abusing girls at a paedophile brothel visited by Jimmy Savile, according to a secret police report.
The four-page document, which Scotland Yard tried to suppress, reveals how Savile and the unnamed band visited the flat in the 1960s.
The identities of the music stars aren’t revealed in the report, which was only released following a lengthy Freedom of Information battle.
It is also unclear whether the group visited with Savile, who was described as a “ well known disc jockey ”, or separately.
The report, marked “RESTRICTED”, was written by Detective Superintendent David Gray, the officer spearheading Operation Yewtree, the investigation into Savile and other celebrities suspected of sexual abuse.
Mr Gray examined the paedophile brothel case after it was highlighted by another official report in 2013 into what police knew about Savile’s abuse before he died.
Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary revealed that a man was jailed for two years for pimping two children’s home girls staying at the flat in Battersea, south west London. The HMIC report made not mention of the band visiting the flat.
Mr Gray found the intelligence in the 1964 ledger may have helped officers in 2003, when a victim contacted the force to reveal an attack by Savile in the 1970s.
The woman told police she was 15 when she was assaulted by the BBC star during a recording of Top Of The Pops.
The victim said she would make a witness statement but would only consider proceeding with a prosecution if other victims were found.
But the intelligence from 1964 wasn’t discovered because the records were never transferred to a computer database.
Years after Savile’s visits to the Battersea flat he became a regular visitor to the Duncroft school in Surrey, where the girls he is suspected of abusing in the Battersea flat had run away from.
Mr Gray’s report said of the 1964 ledger: “There is no evidence to suggest that as a result of this entry any investigation was or was not carried out.
“The reading of it is subjective in that we now know that Savile became a visitor at Duncroft some six years later between 1970 and 1978.
“However although Savile and a pop group were known to frequent that does not in itself show any linkage or grounds to investigate further, except with the benefit of hindsight.
“There would undoubtedly (have) been casepapers from that time, that may have been of assistance, but they are no longer available.”
The report added: “It would have provided useful background information to those officers who dealt with the 2003 allegation. But it would appear it was not transferred onto a digital format and hence not recorded on INI or PND [Police National Database].”
The report was only released following a lengthy FOI battle.April 9, 2015 at 11:36 am #20360
A child sex abuse victim has claimed he was molested by “very powerful people” at several key locations connected to an alleged VIP paedophile ring.
Richard Kerr, who was a victim of abuse at Kincora Boys’ Home in Belfast, has claimed he was also attacked at the Dolphin Square luxury apartment complex and Elm Guest House, both in London.
It is thought to be the first time that the three places have been linked in relation to claims of historic sex abuse by influential Westminster figures.
Former Kincora resident Richard Kerr says he was abused by ‘very powerful people’ in London
Mr Kerr was abused at Kincora in the 1970s and claims he and two other boys were hand-picked to be trafficked to London in 1977 and sexually abused by men.
Both of the other men have since taken their own lives, Mr Kerr told Channel 4 News.
Insisting that the VIP paedophile ring did exist, he claims to have been abused in London by “men who had control and power over others”, some of whom he believes were politicians.
His most violent experience allegedly took place at the Elm Guest House in Barnes, south London, where he claims to have been tied up with his hands behind his back while men took photographs.
When the guest house was raided by police in 1981 it was reported that officers had found whips, chains and ropes.
Mr Kerr also claimed to have been taken to Dolphin Square, a block of apartments near Parliament which is now at the centre of claims of alleged child abuse and murders being investigated by Scotland Yard.
He said: “I could have been 16, 15, 17 … I remember going in with this guy. He told me to sit down and relax and explained about his glasses.
“He had Waterford Crystal and he wanted me to have a brandy and we had a small one. And then we had a sexual encounter in here.”
Asked if he would name his abusers, he said: “I’m still in some fear. Even though I’m willing to take the courage.
“I need to know that I can have faith in our government but right now, when they’re not willing to bring Kincora into Westminster, the message that sends to me is that there’s some kind of cover-up and there has been.”April 9, 2015 at 11:42 am #20361

Currently, the US is leading the biggest NATO war manoeuvres ever in Europe under the rubric of Operation Atlantic Resolve, which comprises tens of thousands of troops, warplanes, tanks, anti-ballistic missiles and warships on offensive drills pointed at Russia – stretching from the Baltic to the Black Sea. Naturally, and reasonably, Moscow has responded by staging major defensive military manoeuvres within its own territory, from the Arctic to the Steppes to Siberia.
Considering this unprecedented propaganda, economic and military aggression that the US and its Western allies are projecting at Russia it is not an exaggeration to say that a form of American-led «hybrid war» is being waged at full pelt.
Added to these offensive measures is the vast support given to the reactionary Neo-Nazi regime in Kiev, which is openly persecuting ethnic Russians through bans on language and culture, as well as proposing mass detention centres for «terror suspects».
On top of billions of dollars in financial aid, courtesy of expropriated Western taxpayer money, this month the US has begun delivery of hundreds of armed military Humvees to Kiev which are to be deployed in the Donbas conflict zone. This intervention by the US will undermine the fragile Minsk ceasefire that was worked out in mid-February under the aegis of Moscow, Berlin and Paris, thus inciting more violence on Russia’s western border.
The Americans are also slated to supply up to $1 billion-worth of lethal munitions in the forthcoming Pentagon budget, as well as sending 300 military trainers this month to join Kiev’s notorious National Guard units. These Nazi SS-styled units have been reported carrying out systematic human rights violations against the ethnic Russian population of the Donetsk and Luhansk self-proclaimed republics since the Western-backed Kiev regime launched its so-called anti-terror operation on eastern Ukraine last year. More than 6,000 people have been killed in that onslaught, most of them civilians. Over one million have been turned into refugees at great expense to Russia’s humanitarian efforts.
Yet, mind-bogglingly, amid this insane climate of Washington-driven hostility towards Russia, John Kerry appeals to Sergei Lavrov to pull him out of a diplomatic hole over the Iranian nuclear dispute.April 9, 2015 at 2:49 pm #20364
Should we Europeans be thankful to the Americans for this act of ‘liberation’? Of course not, USA was allied to the USSR and did everything it could to make sure that war would break out and Europe would be destroyed, so parts of Europe could be incorporated into the American empire and America could take the place, Europe possessed for centuries. America and Britain had zero problems with giving away half of Europe to Stalin in Yalta as a reward for the services Stalin had provided to Anglosphere at the cost of continental Europe. As Suvorov correctly states, Stalin considered himself as the long term loser of WW2 because of his failure to take Europe in its entirety, because Stalin knew that in the long term, the USSR would lose against Anglosphere, because of the inferiority of the Soviet economic system.
These crucial three weeks in June 1941 made all the difference, when the German surprise attack inflicted incredible damage to the Soviet military, that was in a state of full mobilization. The entire road and railway-line between Moscow and Smolensk was one huge traffic jam of military vehicles moving westwards and as such an easy target for the German Luftwaffe. Within a few days all this material was turned into rubble. It certainly pays off if you are able to deal the first flow, but it works against you if you lose the war, so afterwards the opponents can easily portray events as ‘evil Germany attacking peace-loving USSR’. But only now the truth comes out.
Conventional wisdom states that the US-Soviet alliance came about from the moment that the Germans invaded the USSR. That’s a lie, the origins of the US-Soviet alliance go back to 1933, when as a first act of government, Stalin-groupie Roosevelt diplomatically recognized the largest human slaughterhouse in history, the USSR, something that civilized European nations had shunned.
Now in 2015, the USSR is gone and a ‘neo-Czarist Russia’ has emerged from the rubble, with whom we can do business, big business. Unfortunately, the US managed to temporarily drive a wedge between Russia and Europe, using Ukraine as a tool and useful idiot, when Washington noticed that the relationship between Russia and Europe became too cozy, best symbolized by this picture:April 9, 2015 at 4:50 pm #20367

Militants from the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) have been infected by a disease which can become fatal if not treated, the UK’s The Mirror reported.
The disease, which is known as Leishmaniasis, is spreading fast due to poor hygiene conditions and pollution.
Leishmaniasis, which causes large open wounds which eat away flesh, can be fatal if not treated with a simple course of medicine.
So far, more than 100,000 cases have been reported, according to British media reports.
People living in the Syrian city of Raqqa are facing the highest risks of contracting the disease.
Doctors from Medecin Sans Frontiere (MSF) have tried to cure the disease but they left when the terror group seized the north-eastern city.
Leishmaniasis is a disease caused by parasites and spread by the bite of certain types of sandflies.
The disease is prevalent in poor countries where citizens face malnutrition, deforestation and urbanization.April 9, 2015 at 5:10 pm #20369
At 91, Lord Bramall – the latest VIP to be dragged into the sex abuse inquiry – is the oldest and most respected of Britain’s eight living Field Marshals.
He stepped down as Chief of Defence Staff in 1985 after four decades spent climbing the ranks from 2nd Lieutenant right to the pinnacle of Britain’s armed forces.
The name of a dead Labour MP has been passed to an investigation into an alleged paedophile network, it has emerged.
The Church of England said it had passed an allegation about Leo Abse to Operation Fernbridge, a Metropolitan Police inquiry.
The Sunday Times reported that Mr Abse, who died in 2008 aged 91, was being investigated by police on suspicion of child abuse.
Gee, it’s mindboggling how widespread paedophilia is. Before I joined this forum I thought it was just the occasional fruitcake freak of nature here and there. On some level I even had sympathy for those who didn’t act upon what they feel attrackted too because it must be hell to have that urge and always have to surpress it. But this stuff is often aimed towards age groups that hard as I try I don’t understand. I mean, I can understand that one might feel attracted to a cute looking 16 or 17 year old. That of course doesn’t mean that it’s ok to act upon such instincts, but one can understand the attraction. But a 5-8 year old? Let alone a baby? What could anyone possibly get out of having sex with them?

No one knows how many mammoths in the enchanted land of Siberia. Typically, each discovery of the remains of an ancient animal causes a sensation in scientific circles. Scientists to this day do not leave hope to clone an amazing animal, but, alas, the state of the biological material found “minerals” does not meet the necessary standards for such a procedure. Every year in Siberia illegal miners pulled out of the captivity of permafrost several tons of tusks. Despite the hard physical labor and illegal process, the game is worth the candle – per kilogram of mammoth ivory can be sold somewhere 20-25 thousand rubles. The average weight of a tusk – about 50 pounds. Evaluate mammoth bone so expensive because of the good qualities far superior quality ivory. Formerly of tusks found carvers create ridges, boxes, sculptures. The material is very ductile, beautiful and durable. In China, very appreciate sculpture carved from bone of an ancient animal. Usually there and send tusks from the black market.April 9, 2015 at 7:00 pm #20377

CAIRO, April 8. /TASS/. Arabian media have reported Wednesday about ties between Islamic State (IS) extremist group leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi and the US. The reports appeared in response to US Senator John McCain’s attempts to deny his communication with al-Baghdadi.
The main evidence is the picture taken in 2013 in Syria, where Senator McCain met with opposition representatives whom the US supported in their fight against Syrian President Bashar Assad. The Elaph newspaper published an article titled “Photo of A-Baghdadi and McCain Adds Uncertainty to Relations between Washington and IS,” stating that the American politician held talks with al-Baghdadi at the meeting with the Syrian opposition. Elaph noted that the photo triggered an “uproar” in social networks, with users claiming it provides a significant proof that there is secret connection between the US and the Islamist leader. Internet users say that the US, declaring the group its enemy number one in public, in reality provides financial and surveillance assistance to IS. Some users even go as far as claiming that the Islamic State, like al-Qaeda, was created by Americans.April 9, 2015 at 7:39 pm #20378

For a Jewish American ambassador like Schapiro to urge leaders not to participate in an event celebrating the Allied victory over Nazism is yet additional proof of the close ties that many American Jewish leaders have to reactionary rightist forces, whether they are neo-Nazi mercenary battalions fighting for the Kiev regime or George Soros-funded politicians in Eastern Europe who want to ignore Russia’s role in defeating the Nazis. Schapiro, a Chicago attorney, was a campaign “bundler” for Barack Obama and whose mother, Raya Schapiro, was a survivor of the Holocaust. Her son is now engaged in historical revisionism by erasing from the historical record the role of Russia in defeating Nazi Germany. Schapiro also served on the Harvard Law Review with Obama and he was a partner of the Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan law firm where he represented casino mogul Sheldon Adelson and the Philip Morris tobacco company.
Schapiro is not alone in being singled out by European countries for intervention in the domestic affairs of the countries to which they are posted. U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Geoffrey Pyatt and his State Department bureau supervisor, Victoria Nuland, the Assistant Secretary of State for European Affairs, took part in the Kiev protests that resulted in the overthrow of that nation’s democratically-elected government and its replacement by a regime that includes neo-Nazis and U.S. citizens. Pyatt and Nuland even handed out pastries to protesters in Kiev’s Central Square.
U.S. Ambassador Jess Baily has been accused by the Macedonian government of working with his British counterpart in Skopje to attempt a Ukrainian-style coup d’état in the country by trying to have the democratically-elected government of Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski resign and have the pro-U.S. opposition leader Zoran Zaev participate in forming a new government under European Union supervision. To help coup plans along, Baily arranged for National Security Agency FIVE EYES wiretapped conversations among government officials, including Gruevski, to be leaked to Zaev and the pro-U.S. media in Macedonia. The U.S. wants to remove Macedonia as a transit nation for Russia’s Turkish Stream pipeline that will bring natural gas to Hungary via Turkey, Greece, Macedonia, and Serbia.
Schapiro, Pyatt, and Baily represent a string of U.S. interventionist ambassadors who have introduced a lack of tact and diplomacy to U.S. embassies around the world. In the late 1990s, the U.S. ambassador to Venezuela, Donna Hrinak,. was chastised by Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez for criticizing Venezuela’s foreign policy. After Hrinak personally upbraided Chavez for condemning a U.S. cruise missile attack on Afghanistan, Chavez told her, “You are talking to the head of state. Regarding your position, you do not behave in a proper way, please, leave the room now.”April 10, 2015 at 1:52 am #20381
So summing that up, ISIS, possibly in conjunction with al-Qaeda, have taken control of a strategic refugee camp in Damascus, which was previously under siege by Assad and previously controlled by Hamas-linked militiamen who are not keen on cooperating with Assad, who is offering to arm the Palestinians while simultaneously bombing everyone. As Al Jazeera notes, this is a “siege within a siege”:
For the last remaining Palestinian residents of Yarmouk outside Damascus, this week’s takeover by the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant is a “siege within a siege.”
For almost two years, the regime of President Bashar al-Assad has been suffocating rebel-held Yarmouk, a Palestinian refugee settlement turned residential neighborhood just 10 minutes from the heart of Damascus.
Water has been cut off, available only when aid groups sneak it in, and medical supplies and food are scarce. Yarmouk, once known as the capital of the Palestinian diaspora, has shrunk from a prewar population of 180,000 to just 18,000, with about 200 people starving to death since the regime blockade began in 2013, the United Nations says.
The camp’s plight worsened on April 1, when ISIL fighters surged into Yarmouk from their nearby stronghold of Hajr al-Aswad and swiftly overpowered its Palestinian defenders, Aknaf Beit Al-Maqdis, a Hamas-aligned militia. As of Thursday, ISIL had taken over 70 percent of the camp, assisted, sources said, by elements of Jabhat Al-Nusra (the Nusra Front) — Al-Qaeda’s franchise in Syria and, normally, ISIL’s chief rival.
About 2,000 people managed to escape since ISIL infiltrated, but the rest “are now trapped in a siege within a siege,” said Salim Salamah, a Yarmouk native who left in 2012 and now heads the Palestinian League for Human Rights in Syria from Sweden.
Sources on the ground describe a terrifying scene. Farouq al-Rifai, an activist from Yarmouk who said he spoke from an “adjacent neighborhood” but is in contact with many in the camp, said that pitched street battles have broken out and that sniper fire from roofs has killed fighters and civilians alike. The last remaining relief workers in the camp have been forced to flee after several were killed and others were kidnapped by ISIL.
And the REAL cause of all this hellishness, USA, Israel and Saudi Arabia, with assistance from UK and Qatar and TurkeyApril 10, 2015 at 10:07 am #20384
Surely it is enough that Canadian politicians have taken sides in Ukraine’s bitter conflict.
All three major parties in Parliament agree that Ukraine’s central government in Kyiv is heroic and that eastern rebels battling it are mere cats-paws of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Must we now punish any piano player who dares to dissent?
Apparently, the management of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra thinks we should. It has cancelled two performances this week by U.S. pianist Valentina Lisitsa, simply because it doesn’t like her position on Ukraine.
To be more precise, it doesn’t like the fact that other people might not like her position.April 10, 2015 at 10:26 am #20385

So did the United Nations sanction Canadian air strikes inside Syria ?
Or do they just do it anyway, disregarding international law ?
Canada carried out its first air strikes in Syria on Wednesday, the military said, expanding Ottawa’s contribution to the US-led coalition against the so-called ‘Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant’ (ISIL) takfiri group, after parliament approved a larger role in the conflict.

As NATO-backed protests were beginning to take off in Ukraine after then-president Viktor Yanukovich agreed to accept a financial deal with Russia as opposed to the greater integration/austerity package proposed by the European Union, evidence of US involvement in the Euromaidan color revolution began to surface in the Ukrainian Rada.
Indeed, early on, there were individuals in the Ukrainian government who recognized that there was an international and NATO-centered plot at work in their country designed to overthrow the President and other elected officials using “swarming adolescents” and other more violent elements of protest and destabilization.
While color revolutions are often manifested through a variety of channels — the National Endowment for Democracy, USAID, IRI, NDI, are just a few examples, — there were a number of relatively new participants in the game of national destabilization at play in Ukraine this time around.
For instance, even something as a seemingly innocuous “TechCamp” acted as a front for the color revolution apparatus in Ukraine. While the “TechCamp” concept is one that is presented as bringing influential and important members of the public together with members of the technology community for the purposes of greater training and understanding, the truth is that these “TechCamps” are actually operations used to disseminate methodologies for the implementation of color revolutions throughout the target country.April 10, 2015 at 10:38 am #20388
It seems to me outrageous that you seem to have allowed the bullying and threats of the Israeli lobby to prevent the perfectly lawful and legitimate exercise of free speech and academic debate. I understand that the police had reported that they would be perfectly able and willing to deal with any security concerns at the event: this ought to be good enough. Cancelling the event in this way makes the University look weak, spineless and reactionary. I am proud to be a member of academic staff here, but your decision to withdraw support for a conference in this manner makes me, and I’m sure very many others like me, seriously question the University’s commitment to open and free debate.

Fucking United States of Death
It’s a long war, unfortunately. But it’s been a war that has been in existence for millennia, at the same time, the use of violence for political purposes against non-combatants by either a state actor or a sub-national group. Terrorism has taken many forms over the years. What is more challenging now is, again, the technology that is available to terrorists, the great devastation that can be created by even a handful of folks, and also mass communication that just proliferates all of this activity and incitement and encouragement. So you have an environment now that’s very conducive to that type of propaganda and recruitment efforts, as well as the ability to get materials that are going to kill people. And so this is going to be something, I think, that we’re always going to have to be vigilant about. There is evil in the world and some people just want to kill for the sake of killing … This is something that, whether it’s from this group right now or another group, I think the ability to cause damage and violence and kill will be with us for many years to come. We just have to not kill our way out of this, because that’s not going to address it. We need to stop those attacks that are in train, but we also have to address some of those underlying factors and conditions. I’m not saying that poverty causes somebody to become a terrorist, or a lack of governance, but they certainly do allow these terrorist organizations to grow and they take full advantage of those opportunities. To summarize, the war on terrorism is working, compared to inaction or other policies. But, the Pindosi sheeple should expect it to continue for millennia, or as long as lethal technologies and mass communication remain available to evil people.April 10, 2015 at 10:55 am #20391
America’s Democratic Terrorists
Only a handful of Western sources include Al Qaeda in their headlines regarding Idlib. Many headlines are referring to Jabhat al Nusra, a US State Department-listed terrorist organization, as the “Syrian opposition,” or a “Jihadi” or “Islamist” coalition. It is clear that the West is attempting to spin the fall of an entire city to Al Qaeda as a victory, rather than a threat to global peace and stability.
Talk from the terrorists themselves attempts to portray a softer image, asking for “consultation” regarding the administration of the city. This comes in the wake of other recent calls by US ally, and host of the US Combat Air Operations Center for the Middle East, Qatar, who openly admitted it was supporting Al Qaeda in Syria, and sought to back it further with the precondition al Nusra scaled back its extremist rhetoric (note: not scale back its actual extremism).
In Reuters’ article, “Syria’s Nusra Front may leave Qaeda to form new entity,” it would be reported that:
Leaders of Syria’s Nusra Front are considering cutting their links with al Qaeda to form a new entity backed by some Gulf states trying to topple President Bashar al-Assad, sources said.
Sources within and close to Nusra said that Qatar, which enjoys good relations with the group, is encouraging the group to go ahead with the move, which would give Nusra a boost in funding.
Reuters admits inadvertently that al Nusra is already enjoying Qatari support. It is clear that al Nusra has not “severed ties to Al Qaeda” because it is Al Qaeda.
What is forming before the world’s collective eyes is an attempt to sell the concept of an Al Qaeda-led opposition government, based in Idlib, behind which NATO and its Persian Gulf allies will place their support.
While this scenario seems “implausible,” it should be mentioned that from the beginning of the fighting in Libya in 2011, it was pointed out by many geopolitical analysts that the so-called “freedom fighters” were in fact literally Al Qaeda, with NATO providing it with air cover, weapons, cash, and diplomatic support. In Libya, operational momentum outpaced the public’s awareness regarding the true nature of the opposition. In Syria, the West is desperately trying to reshape the public’s awareness that the opposition is in fact Al Qaeda – before a NATO buffer zone can be created around Idlib.
